That's a general descriptor chez Annie this week. The kids are restless and irritable then gleeful and playful. The weather is sunny and 63 degrees this morning, but we had a heck of a thunderstorm -- wind and hail galore -- at about 3:00 a.m. Yesterday was windy, blustery, and weirdly warm. The day before? Chilly and cloudy. My knitting is unsettled as well. After the monogamous knitting that was the Olympics, I can't settle into any one thing. I'm working on another hat and two blankets for 40 Days for Others. The hat is out of the same Candy yarn, only blue and green. Same pattern as well...the one included on the ball-band. The blankets are out of Baby Cloud from my stash (nasty to knit with, very splitty, but really soft knitted up, and washable, which I think is a necessity for this knit as it will be given away, likely without washing instructions) --a garter stitch job with eyelets -- and Cotton Tot from Bernat in La's free blanket pattern. Pictures of that stuff in the update tomorrow.
I'm also splitting my time between the two socks (first of each pair) I'm waffling on for Sockapaloooza.
The On Line Supersocke cotton Turtle Tracks sock is on the left. Plain k1sl1 heel flap, about a third of the way through the foot. This one is growing on me. The hand of this knitted cotton is perfect for right now when we are all yearning for spring. Speaking of, while I'm reading in many of your blogs that you're getting snow this weekend, I've got daffodils and jonquils! (Early, I think...but what do I know?) The sock is stuffed with folded kitchen napkins to better show the cable. I need to get me some sock blockers... And here is the Fleece Artist Merino gunmetal gray cabled sock. The heel is called "Birdseye" and I did the 3 stitch garter border on each side of the flap. Much neater to pick up -- I don't have those wonky picked up stitches and there are no gaps. I really like the way this heel looks.
I know I'm supposed to give these socks away in May and the cotton would be better than wool at that time of year, but you wouldn't believe how sumptuous this gray sock is. Really. It would make a wonderful gift. Would it be too nerdy to give her both?

I think they both look lovely. I bet your sockpal would love them both, but I were you, I would have a hard time parting with them!

Both pairs of socks are wonderful and I am sure your sock pal would love them both. I just wanted to drop by and leave a link to my update on the 40 days project...

Nerdy to give both? How in the world could you think that? Nerdy would be if you gave your pal one sock from each pair. heh They're both great - isn't it so fun to knit socks? I never would have dreamed! :)
