Two of you guessed the right answer within 4 minutes of each other on separate entries, so...I had to give something to both. I mean 4 minutes could be the time Typepad takes to post on a slow day, right? A mighty thin margin of error for my money. Ruth gets the Bearfoot (apparently "won yarn" does not disqualify her from the Stashalong -- which I so fortuitously did NOT join) and Margene gets some of Judy's laceweight leftover from the September Wool Peddler's Shawl. It is indeed a Charlotte's Web, but we aren't talking about it any more. It's a secret. Shhhh.
Further de-stashification might occur beginning tomorrow -- Sockpaloooza go day is Feb. 1. Maybe I'll have something in my stash my sock pal would like. Maybe not. Maybe I'll have to shop. Darn it all to hell. Lucky I didn't join the....
But, big on everyone's screen here in St. Louis is this Weather. Yes, with a capital W. We had a beautiful weekend, with highs in the 50s and lots of sunshine. This reporter witnessed a 3 on 1 pick-up basketball game on the driveway. Very fun. The 1 (read husband /Daddy) was sore later. Poor Daddy. There was also some dispute as to who actually won the game. Too many fouls to count, most of which consisted of 2 little boys holding onto Daddy's shirt. It's mighty stretched out. Yes, there is one extra kid here -- #53 and the girl are mine, the other is a school friend. How about those short sleeves on the 29th of January? Can you say global warming?
I read somewhere that the current warming scenario warms weather here in the US and freezes out Europe. Eerie, huh? And here is the sky at 4:15 Sunday.
Gorgeous, eh Sandy?
We had a fun get-together here with longtime neighborhood friends this weekend as well. We go out to dinner once ever couple of months, but this time we wanted to stick close to home, so everyone came here. It was a potluck and each couple was to bring a course for dinner, possibly a drink to go with it, and the accompanying music. I have to say, we used practically every dish I own to serve 10 people 4 courses and cheese. Sheesh. I made Rumaki (both the liver kind -- yuck, but husband likes it -- and the water chestnut kind) and a shrimp bisque for appetizers and the soup course. We served martinis and played some Big Band music. One couple brought Salad, and smooth jazz. The next two brought a fabulous slow-cooked brisket with homemade Bar-B-Que sauce and (hmm, too many appletinis, I can't remember the music) and the side dishes: rosemary potatoes and Brussels sprouts with pancetta -- music, mardi gras stuff I think, oh and "Jazz for dummies", a fun sampler. And ice cream for dessert. And big band music. After dinner, the cheese club (the guys, so named because they usually get a cheese flight when we go out to our once-a-year-fancy-dinner on New Year's Eve Eve -- you can get a babysitter on the 30th) provided port and 7 kinds of cheese with crackers and grapes. Oh, and cheesy lounge lizard music -- you know, like Love Boat stuff. What a riot. You kind of had to pace yourself.
So, on to the knit shop for a hard day's work (cough, cough) and I'll let you know if any more spring yarns work their way into my stash come in.
That sky is indeed beautiful! Can you believe that it's January and we can go outside in our shirts?
Weird!
:)

Hi Ann! Thanks for stopping by my blog! I love all the new yarn you've added to your stash - I bet you'll have fun using some for your new sock pal. And hey, I used to live just over the river from St. Louis in Columbia, IL. I worked downtown SL at a law firm a few blocks from the Arch. I loved living there SO much. :)
