First of all, many thanks to those of you who left me kind words about Bianca. As much as it needed to be done, as much as it was expected, I'm still sad. It also seems, by some bizarre coincidence, it happened on what is touted as the saddest day of the year...sheesh.
Joinings
Unless you live under a rock, you've seen the Harlot's Olympic Challenge.
Which I joined. I'm going to knit this cabled sweater from the Tahki 2002 Fall/Winter Collection (the red one) out of the Cherry Tree Hill bulky potluck wool I got. It's gorgeous...well see for yourself...
Oh. And that is Dani's yarn in "Neapolitan", "Amazon", and "Ravenclaw". And next to that are two colors of Socks that Rock in Pebble Beach and Red Rock Canyon. How many ways can a person say yum? Well, I count at least 6 here...
Swatch of the cables to the right - ignore the flubbed one under the bottom needle -- we all have a learning curve, right? I love this yarn! I'm going to take the sleeves off of this sweater, install a zipper, and call it a sporty vest. That's my Olympic part...the zipper. Yikes. So I guess I have to acquire a USA Cable Team button from JenLa and install that too. I'm on it.
Which brings me to my second joining: Yes, this time I got in on Alison's Sockpaloooza!
I missed Sockpal2za signups while on vacation last May, so I made sure to get in on this one. Last time she had about 350 sockpals, this time I bet she tops 500. A glutton for punishment that one. But we love that about her... As you know (see above) I'm well stocked for sock yarn,
but just in case my pal is a summery knit socks kinda gal, these came in new at the shop last week and
I had to get me some.
They're by On Line, and they are their summer-only-available-for-a- limited- time sockyarn. Click on the orange ball to see what all the colors do...kind of... And they're only $12.00 for a ball that will definitely make two adult socks and maybe even two baby ones...I'll let you know. I've gotta say though, that I am not liking my Addi's for this cotton wool blend. I'm knitting too loosely with them. I wish I was confident in the Naturas -- that they wouldn't break in such small sizes ( size 1 US, 40" long). I love the Magic Loop thing, but I don't like cottony socks on Addi's. 'Nuff said.
More joinings later. I've got a mammogram appointment in a hour. When's the last time you had one? Do the right thing, girls. Get squished.
Another fun join is Lolly's Project Spectrum. We'll be crafting in different colors for the next few months. Check out the list of various crafts. March is red or pink. I'm going to do another Flower Basket, I think, in some Mountain colors Bearfoot.
So, ok. I've joined three new things. Now I need to clear out some of my old joins...Ya think? I'll get right on that.
Annie - I am so sorry about your kitty. It's difficult to lose a friend. And it is the saddest day of the year - I actually thought that Jan 24th was the designated one - according to something I read recently there are more suicides on that day than anyother. I was concerned because I have a Daughter who is bipolar and this is definitely the worst time of year for her - two attempts in the last two years - Jan and Feb...and we are in crisis now...so sad yes, but mostly scary for me.
I do so enjoy reading your blog - seeing what you're knitting and reading - we seem to have similar tastes!
Socks are in! I'm just finishing my first FO of the year - Socks in Mountain Colors! So fun.
Thanks and hope you can add a new kitty to your family soon - that's often the best remedy!

Oh my! I'm drooling over your yarn. Why did I decide to do a stashalong? Can I blame it on post Christmas depression?...lol... Can't wait to see your sweater!

Love the sweater you picked. I'll be watching for progress reports on it. Are you doing better now? I think you should get a new cat, too.
