What, I guess.
My last post was a real downer, huh. And really. I've got a sparkly personality. Really. I should just lay off politics. Because, in the presence of politics, I'm prone to opinionated rants (as if there are any other kind).
Luckily for us all, I have self-medicated once again -- with yarn.
Boy, am I glad I didn't sign up for that no-stash-enhancement along, or whatever it's called, because yarn seems to be my drug of choice lately.
See? This cute little bag came home with me today. We have a new knit shop in town, called Knit and Hook I think. It's really about rug hooking, but she stocks several yarns we don't have where I work. And I am weak. But isn't it cute? They're awfully classy there -- each skein wrapped up in it's own tissue, some black, some brown. And see inside?
Some Outback Wool and the coordinating Mohair. Sheer stash enhancement here, no project intended....but it is the same stuff as the Reading Shawl ...hmmm ... It's done in these hot reds and oranges, a colorway we didn't ever see at the store. And beside it is a mystery. Mystique Mohair Boucle to be exact. Color # 311. I haven't heard of this outfit...the label says "Hand Painted by Jan Gilray" in New Zealand. JJ's Specialty Yarns is the name of the company. It is luscious and soft -- wickedly so. Each skein is 200 meters and they want you to knit it on a 9 US or so. Do I need another shawl? No. Will I make one out of this stuff? Likely. Was I finished shopping? Ummm. No.
See, it's like this. Dani at Sunshine yarns has great sock yarn. And I just popped over to see what was new in her Etsy shop. Really. Just popped. No shopping intended. Really. Then...well, she's done a colorway called Amazon and I love green and brown. (See Above) And the Ravenclaw would be good with jeans, right? And who can pass up Neapolitan ice cream? (No, that's not a non-sequitur -- just look at the yarn, OK? Under sold. All three of them.) And was I done? NOOOO!
See, likely I was depressed, because this cure took a lot of yarn. Because, see, I was reading Cara's blog (scroll down to "Jaywalker Eight") and all those Socks that Rock are calling me. Can't you hear them? Sheesh. Well, I can. And this yarn seems to work so well with the Jaywalker sock, and that was already on my list. Really. Because, it seems like everyone is knitting a pair of these socks. With this yarn. I got Pebble Beach and Red Rock Canyon.
Then I felt better. Ok, you do the math. Which is more expensive, therapy or yarn? 'Cause I'm only gettin' one of the two! And I think we all know which, now don't we.
Therapy is more expensive, hands down. Because while you may spend more money in the yarn shop than on a single therapy session, you will be able to pet and admire the yarn until it tells you what it wants to be, and then work with the yarn for days on end. Much more cost effective.

It's okay to get crabby once in a while. At least you're among friends when you do it.
Yarn is a pretty good fix for everything.

In my house, it's a toss up. But I try not to talk about yarn in my therapy. LOL.
Excellent color choices in the STR. Can't wait to see your jaywalkers.
