There is quite a lot of activity out there -- I finally took my own advice and clicked around on the sidebar! Here's what I found:
- Laura sent me this email: Ann, I just thought of something. I have a bunch of boy clothes that I bought on clearance last year at a resale shop to sell on eBay, but I never finished selling all of it. These are mostly toddler size, shorts, overall shorts, and shirts. Nice brands - almost all Old Navy, Gymboree, Ralph Lauren, nice nice stuff. I know that I will never sell these clothes on eBay now but I hate to just hand them over to Good Will. If I send them to you with the items I'm knitting do you think they would be able to use them at St. Pius?... Isn't that a great idea? I too have some unworn kids clothing -- bought on sale out of season and never ended up fitting. I was saving it for...who knows? And she's knitting away on afghan squares.
- Daisy says: Body of one child's sweater and one sleeve completed. Second sleeve and the yoke to go. (I just noticed that the colors in the sweater and your knitalong button match- purple and cheddar orange.) When I started this I thought there would be no problem finding one hour each day to knit for others. I wondered if I was wimping out to only knit for one hour. It's only one hour, right? Ha! Let's just say I've become much more conscious of how I spend my time... and how long it takes to knit a child's sweater. I have to say that I love purple and orange together...it's that "opposite on the colorwheel" thing.
- Pat has knit one hat that turned out to be toddler-sized (hey, toddlers get cold heads too!) and is starting another hat with another pattern -- larger this time -- and she's taking this knitting along on her CRUISE. Sheesh. Pina Coladas, sun, ocean, and knitting. What else does a girl need?
- Amanda has made a ton of progress with two scarves, a hat and afghan squares. Go cheer her on.
- Bliss has knit beautiful blue afghan squares and a stripey hat. She's also got some VERY cut puppy pics up.
- Carina has had surgery recently, but she's still thinking of others. She's got socks and a helmet liner in the works for a local soldier. And toys for Katrina devastated kids. That's the spirit, Carina!
- Danielle is working on a koolaide hat...no pics yet.
- Jocelle's got a hat for us too.
- Kay is knitting hats for Dulaan AND she's got a free corrugated hat pattern up on her site...very fun.
- Lana's got some Project Spectrum pics up and boy are they PINK ... and RED! Tucked in there is a preemie hat for her Lenten knitting.
- And check out Zarah's beautiful golden mittens. I love the variegation in that yarn!
- Jenny sent me this email and this picture:
The not-quite-a-square in the middle is that inside-out square from Barbara
Walker. I didn't notice the 'whirligig' effect until I was getting near the end. I am not sure where I went wrong. (The line of increases should be a straight shot to each corner). There must be something in the color change that I disregarded, since I was using only one 'color'. ... Two of my squares were sent off to Louisiana this week. The little bitty start of a square is my next attempt....the baby blanket pattern from EZ, which I have down-sized to a 12" square. This is the blanket that goes around from one corner to the last by way of decreases and increases. ...Ahh, but my saving grace is the fact that I will go on after the knitalong! ...
And me? As I told you yesterday, I'm just all over the place with my knitting. I knit on 3 different socks yesterday (cotton, wool, Jaywalker) and two blankets (Baby clouds and Cotton Tots) and one hat (Candy). Here's a pic of the charity portion of that knitting. All jumbled up. Kind of an allegory for my knitting life at the moment, no? The astute among you will notice that each piece was put down mid-row even. So changeable and fickle am I. Also...truth in advertising. That's not La's blanket in the cotton tots...I couldn't get it to work. That's a blanket pattern half pirated half doctored -- just like the blue wool of earlier posts, but I did change the pattern's paired decreases to the jaywalker double decrease. Me likey much better. That inner chevron monster thing again.
And....look what came in the mail from Judy...some of her Echinacae colored silk and wool. My April Project Spectrum project (maybe a lacey poncho thing? Maybe a shawl? Maybe a vest?) in it's infancy right here...
There is a glint at the tip of the middle skein of this yarn's true color. Pinks, golden yellow, burntish orange. Lighting is a problem here as we are in a dreary mode while waiting for the next round of tornado warnings. See? Changeable.
I can certainly relate to being all over the place! I have decided that switching amongst about three different needle sized-projects throughout the week is actually better for my hands - are am I just deluding myself?! I am sending my 40 Days knitting to CIC, so will be rifling through stash for another ball of yarn for wristwarmers this morning.

My first hat is on the needles and growing slowly. Next hat will be with a bulkier yarn for more warmth and quicker knitting. Thank you for reminding us to knit for others.

Good work, everyone! I'm plugging away on the auction shawl, which doesn't really count since it's not Dulaan. Just wait until I finish, though.
