I am obviously taking a little blog hiatus. I suppose you've noticed. I've no one and nothing to blame but myself. I'm busy and I'm not making time for blogging. Spinning? Yes. Raveling? Yes. Blogging? No.
Deborah has tagged me for a meme, and in honor of her (4oth!!)birthday, I'll take the bait. Go and wish her a happy B-Day. She's ok with it, I promise.
And then there will likely be radio silence. Hopefully just until the new year.
Here goes.
- What was the best Christmas present you got as a kid? I have to say that I honestly can't remember. As much of a Christmas bug as I am, you'd think I'd have some great story here, but I absolutely can't remember. I got a green 10 speed one year and that was cool, but best? I dunno. Sorry Mom.
- What was the best Christmas present you got as an adult? Again, hmmm. (Here's a secret -- my heart's desires? I buy them for myself because I'm no good at delayed gratification.) Probably the golden leather coat husband got several years ago. No wait, he bought black and I exchanged it for golden... See?
- What's your favorite Christmas carol? Easy. Carol of the Bells. Or Baby, It's Cold Outside (not really a carol, but seasonal). Or the Charlie Brown Christmas music.
- How long can you stand to listen to Christmas music before you break? I have yet to break.
- How many Christmas albums do you own? Maybe 30, but I own maybe 100 pieces of holiday sheet music. Plus books of holiday music. So, singing this time of year more than listening, I'd have to say.
- Did you ever go caroling as a kid? All the time.
- Would you willingly eat fruitcake? Love it.
- Do you own any Christmas sweaters? And shirts.
- Do you own any Christmas jewelry? What? Yes. Earrings and bracelets.
- Do you wear them? Um, yeah!
- Did your family have any weird Christmas traditions? Like what? Not so much weird, but as a kid we and another family always got together on Christmas Eve. I remember the first one and we all ate BBF. Anyone remember BBF? It was kind of a central Ohio McDonald's in the '70s. The meals got more elaborate as the years went on, but the gathering was the same.
- Do you buy Christmas presents for your pets? Yes. And they each have a stocking. Whatevah!
- What's your favorite Christmas cookie? All of them.
- What's your favorite Christmas candy? Rollo candies melted onto a pretzel. 1 point, people! Except you can't eat one, so you may as well count them as 10 points right from the start.
- What's your stocking look like? Our stockings are handknit from my mother-in-law. They are green, white, and red and have an intarsia Santa and our name and birth year on them. All 3 sibs, their wives, and nine kids have them. Love them. Thanks, Pat!
- How do you feel about the "Steal from Your Neighbor" Christmas present game (the one where people pick gifts from a pile, but others get to steal it)? Love that game. I always want the thing I brought to be the thing people steal, you know? But it's usually not. The stealing is almost viral in nature as I see it. You know, if someone steals something, then someone else steals it because, gosh, it must be good if it's been stolen.
- What is the oldest ornament on your tree? No idea. Do I have to get up and go look? I think we have things that are as old as our marriage (22 years) on there since I never throw anything like that away...
- Real or artificial? Wish I could do real, but breathing for three weeks or so inside my house is more important. I do put live greens on the doors so I can get a whiff of the Christmasy smell.
- How do you feel about Christmas letters? Like to read them. Guilty of mocking them. Don't like to write them.
- Do you have Christmas decorations or lights outside your house? What are they? We hang large wreaths and swags on the front of the house and a wreath on the side door (see number 18 above) and the tree is in a window. And sometimes I hang lights in the windows, but we don't do lights on the outside.
- How far would you drive to see Christmas lights? We've driven to the drive through the lights places... pretty far I guess.
- Are you a fan of tasteful or tacky? Depends... I swing both ways really.
- Do you have any Christmas themed collections? Yes -- nativities (I have 4 sets and counting) Santas, angels, anything singing. (I added this one, Deborah, hope you don't mind!)
And I'm to tag 3 of you! I'll tag Bridgett since she's a willing participant... And you can pick this up too if you want!
Merry Christmas all of you. And a Blessed Holiday season too. See you in the New Year!
