Have you ever gone weeks and weeks without inclination to step outside of yourself? I have. I'm just doin' my day-to-day things, you know, getting by, and I've had no inclination to share any of it! Sorry.
I finished Amanda's socks and gifted them. I also finished three other pairs of socks. What follows is the glory of having several half-finished pairs of socks sitting around staring you in the face. Every once in a while, you sit down and finish all three in a week and Voila! You have three new pairs of socks in the time it would have taken you to knit one pair if you'd just be monogamous about your knitting. I don't know which is the better path to having lots of pairs of hand knit socks, but this is the path I generally follow.
Trekking XXL, size 1 Addi Turbo 40" needles, Garter Rib pattern from Sensational Knitted Socks.
Claudia Handpaints Sport weight, Indigo something colorway, size 2.5 Brittany Birch 5"needles, toe-up heel-flap design of my own (based on all the toe-up patterns I've glanced at over the years). See where I had to break into the second skein? Oh well.
I've made two of these socks, swear, but I can't lay my hands on the second one right now... Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks that Rock light weight, Pebble Beach, size 1 Addi Turbo 40" needle, plain vanilla top-down pattern.
And here a cautionary tale. It has to do with having too much beautiful sock yarn lounging about and temptation and negating the benefits of knitting two socks at the same time so you end up with a pair... But aren't they lovely? Here is the proof, if you needed any, that I am absolutely and completely a process knitter. The colors are dancing under my fingers and I care not one whit whether I end up with a matched set.
Stats? Oh. Rachel's sock yarn, un-named colorways again, size 1 Addi Turbo 47" needle, garter rib pattern from Sensational Knitted Socks.
Clarification: I got the idea last night at Knit Night that I've not been clear here -- these socks do indeed result from two different balls of yarn, two different colorways if you can call them that. Rachel calls them mutants and swears she can't duplicate them. I bet if we fuss enough, we could get her to try...
How did I accomplish all this knitting? An ipod, the first three of Stephanie Meyers' Twilight vampire series, Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre, and a little bit of Bram Stoker's Dracula. Oh, and the last day at the pool (noon to 7 p.m.!) supervising the 15 yr olds and 11 yr olds -- that just requires that I sign my name to the snack bar bill and stay out of the way.
So, I've obviously thrown over blogging for sitting and listening to novels and knitting. Not a bad trade for a few weeks. Sorry again.
Anyway, the kids are back in school, I've got several irons in the fire regarding the neighborhood association and church, and I'm just kind of coasting along, minding my own business. I've got a few big issues to lay out here, but they'll have to wait for a day when I'm more inclined to put them on the page. Have a beautiful late summer day
Some days are like that and it is okay! Enjoy the remainder of summer.

Well put! I try to ascribe to the Blogging Without Obligation 'tude, but I still feel guilty at times (sheesh). It's just nice to hear from you occasionally.
...Though I haven't seen a post sharing the yarn and beads you'll be using for MS4...
(Now I'm off to see if my libraries have Stephanie Meyers in their audio book sections)

My own blogging has been running in spurts. And themes. So don't stress it. Purdy socks.
